Merry x-mas

Merry x-mas to everyone! Hope you had a great day (and many presents). One of my presents was Steven Hawking’s book, “The Universe in a Nutshell” which I wanted to read for some time now.

No more AA batteries

My Meade ETX-90EC telescope is now equipped with a rechargeable battery pack (thanks to Louie for building it for me), which should get me through many hours of observing until I have to re-charge it. That also means better response for the motors too as they supply of power should be regulated and constant… Hurray! (all we need now are some clear skies!)

Opera and C64

Now what’s going on here? Slashdot reports that apparenty Opera has included the ‘Nostalgia” look & feel in their latest beta that resembles the Commodore 64. (even 20 years on, the good old C64 which was my second computer after the ZX Spectrum, is still with us…)

ASV member

I recently became a member of the Astronomical Society of Victoria, a society for all of us (and not only!) with an active interest in astronomy and the cosmos. Dating back to 1922 and with nearly 1000 members, the ASV is probably the largest astronomical society on planet Earth.
